RPM Motorsports 275 Radial Champion, VMP and NDRRA X275 Drag Radial Series Runner Up Dale Handy/Kent Freeman. Dale Handy and Kent Freeman are from North Carolina and will be racing the Money Pit Mustang up and down the east coast in multiple events for 2011. The “PIT” as it’s known in their Handy Racing Engines camp is a front runner at any event that they decide to enter. Pulling off multiple wins in the 2010 season at Dunn-Benson, Piedmont, and Virginia Motorsports Park in several different series is no easy task but for car owner Kent Freeman and driver Dale Handy they expect nothing less and work hard to be at the top. They also made the long drive down to South Georgia Motorsports Park having a very memorable starting line dual with West Coast 275 radial racer Dave Bowman. They have also traveled to Maryland to take part in the Yellow Bullet Nationals at Cecil County Dragway and also raced at several other events at Maryland International Raceway always qualifying and finishing near the top.
The Pit is powered by a Handy Racing Engine built 440 cubic inch Small Block Ford running both a single carb intake and at times a sheetmetal intake with multiple nitrous systems depending on rules and weight restrictions has run a best of 5.05/143 pass. Look for them to be in the 4 second zone in 2011!
In 2010 the Pit was sitting on ladder bar suspension and that’s all changed for 2011 with all new UPR based stock suspension installed by the Petty Garage (yea THAT Petty!) Petty Garage made some modifications under the car that should allow Kent and Dale to control the killer wheelies that they are known for. Also on board again for 2011 is Lenny from Ultimate Converter Concepts getting all the Handy Racing Engines horsepower to the ground through one of his bullet proof torque converters.
Dale also has his own car that he races on a regular basis and has been a best of 5.04/141.9 pass with it. The 423 cubic inch engine built by Dale is also a SBF using multiple nitrous kits to get the job done. Not just content with building engines and driving 2 cars Dale has also stepped into the drivers’ seat for X275 racer Joe Alvarez on occasion and done quite well with Joe’s car at various events and even winning a Street Boss race at VMP.
