X275 kicked off 2011 down in South Florida at Immokalee Regional Raceway for the Tomato Nationals sponsored by the Southern Hot Rod Association (SHRA). Ford Racing stepped up to the plate and sponsored the X275 class. With a strong cold front moving in and high chances for rain, the turnout wasnt the best, but 12 racers decided to to take the risk for X275. We were still the largest heads up class present at the event. There were the normal familiar faces that everyone expected to see such as Clint Lonon, Eric Kenward and Enrique Perez, but more importantly there were some new faces and new cars that came out to support as well. We even had Joe from Holeshot Wheels present and roaming around the pits. Joe and Holeshot are a major contributing sponsor to the X275 class up and down the east coast. In the end it was Clint Lonon taking the win over Jeff Wallace in a peddle fest with a margin of victory of 1/100th of a second with a 5.39 to a 5.40.
Special Note: Mike Freeman got loose testing Friday evening for the event and hit the wall. He is ok and came out Saturday to support the other racers. The car is not so good and appears that just about everything from the firewall forward will need repair. X275 wishes him the best of luck getting the car back together.
We will back next weekend at Bradenton Motorsports Park for the US Street Nationals!
